Lucky

Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue: Lucky, End of Life Comfort

Lucky had belonged to an older couple who bought her from a breeder as a puppy, twelve years prior. The wife, Lucky’s main person, had died about a year ago and the husband felt unable to care for Lucky any longer. She was overweight, needed extensive dental work and had blood in her urine, which we later found was due to a very large tumor in her bladder. Just her initial vet visit was over $150 and with subsequent visits the total spent by the Northern Virginia Sheltie Rescue (NVSR) for her care was $1,618.

Lucky was an adorable, happy little girl who would give a little jump with her play bow. An NVSR member volunteer fostered Lucky and made sure that she got the palliative vet care and love and attention that she deserved for the two months that she was with us before she flew to Rainbow Bridge with her new Sheltie angel wings.  NVSR not only takes in young, healthy dogs but we take in Shelties in need, no matter their age or health condition, even when facing a terminal illness and needing a loving place to live out their lives.
